wow, thank you for this terrific post, Emma! We hope to arrange for a meet up between the TC drama department and the "Shakespeare High" filmmakers during their stay, in town...crossing my fingers.
I also LOVED this film and found myself rooting for a bunch of the actors.

I'm psyched, too, to see The Laramie Project at TC...the drama dept doesn't shy away from challenges, that's for sure. Hope to see everyone out there, enjoying local student theater!

Last year, we had an amazing screening of Ride the Divide at AFF and loved what you are doing for the area. This year, we're working on a few new films and funding the theatrical release of one of the films with Kickstarter. We were able to get sponsors to help raise the money to make the film and are now relying on our supporters to help us have bigger distribution. The film is called Where the Yellowstone Goes and here's a link to its Kickstarter page: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/859143778/where-the-yellowstone-goes

Thanks for a great post.

I really want to have a Kill Bill marathon after listening to Nancy Sinatra's song, I love those movies! And you're right, “Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)” is the perfect opening for Kill Bill Volume 1.

Glancing over the list, the O Brother Where Art Thou soundtrack definitely stood out. I was never a huge bluegrass fan before, but the music in that movie really changed my mind. Now I can’t get enough of the fiddle and banjo in the music I listen to.

And of course, I’m a sucker for musicals. The Sound of Music, The Wizard of Oz, Grease, and even Snow White in The Seven Dwarfs- all classic movies with classic soundtracks.

Alexandria is beautiful during the winter holidays. My personal favorite holiday is Halloween in Old Town. All the trick or treaters on Lee Street - it could be a scene in a film. I love how the community really commits to the decorations. Good luck with your project, Zach. We hope you'll submit it to the Festival upon completion.

Well, appropriately enough, I am filmmaker who's from Alexandria (I currently live in Brooklyn, NY) and I just launched a Kickstarter for a new feature film I'm shooting in Northern VA this winter!!! It's a Christmas comedy called WHITE REINDEER. I have such fond memories of holidays as a child in Alexandria, and this movie is more-or-less my love letter to Christmastime in the area. Please take a look at our page and consider donating, every little bit helps, and as mentioned in the blog, it all or nothin, folks.

Just a minor correction: Your link to the Prelinger Archives at archive.org has no relationship to the National Archives of our Federal Government.
